Saina Nehwal become the first Indian woman to be in the top 10 in the world badminton rankings. Earlier in the year, Saina had also become the first reach the quarter finals at the Olympic Games 2008 . Saina would like to do well in the upcoming season where the World Championships is being played in her hometown of Hyderabad .

Quarterbacks Injury Recovery Slow

10/20/2008:
The New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady on October 6 had surgery to repair a torn ACL and MCL. A follow on surgery was performed this week becuase of some infection had developed. Brady who had a great 2007 season by throwing a single season record 50 touchdowns suffered torn ACL and MCL in the season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs on September 7.
The Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo hurt his little finger during the overtime against Arizona on Oct. 12 will be out till mid November. Romo will miss the Sunday game at Tampa Bay and the following week at the rival New York Giants and hopes to return after a bye week against Washington on Nov. 16.

Michelle Sung Wie skipped playing in a major so she could play on the PGA Tour this week. Wie was listed in qualifying for the Women’s British Open at Sunningdale, buy choose not to participate. Wei is currently managed by her her parents. Just recently Michelle Wie was disqualified at the LPGA’s State Farm Classic when she left the scoring area without signing her card. So people are now questing why Wei would choose to play at the PGA Tour over playing in the Women’s British Open.

Boston Celtics Win NBA Championship Title 2008

06/18/2008:
The Boston Celtics won the Basketball News NBA Championship Title by crushing the Los Angeles Lakers 131 to 92 in the 6th game of the final. The Celtics played well all around with their key players playing their best game with Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen ledding the way with 26 points each, and Rajon Rondo with 21 points, while Paul Pierce only had 17 points but made up with 10 assists. The win marks Boston’s 17th NBA Championship, the last one over 22 years ago. Only last year, Boston finished with league’s worst records with just 24 wins, marking a great turned around by the team and their coach, Doc Rivers.
On the other hands the Lakers seemed to have been jetlagged by their trip from the west coast. Kobe Bryant started well with 3 three pointer in the first couple of minutes, but then was kept quite for the rest of the game with no major impacts. He could not break thru the Boston’s defenese.

2008 Summer Olympics, Beijing, China

This summer Beijing, China will host the 2008 Summer Olympics . The Opening ceremony will be held on August 8, 2008 and the Closing ceremony will be held on August 24, 2008. The 2008 Summer Olympics will consist of 302 evebts in 28 sports with over 10000 Athletes participating. The 2008 Summer Olympics have been in recent news with nations calling for boycotts due to some people being upset with China’s involvement in the crisis in Darfur. Other concern related to environmental and health issues in and around Beijing have been raised due to the concern that it may potentially effect athletes health.
