Sourav Ganguly Announces Retirement

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly surprised everyone in the cricket world by announcing his retirement after the four Test cricket series against Australia at a press conference in Bangalore . Ganguly was a surprise addition to the first two Tests after being ignored for the five-day domestic Irani Cup last month. Now the others in the club known as the ‘fab five’ will be thinking about retiring? The ‘fab five’ includes Sachin Tendulkar (35), skipper Anil Kumble , Rahul Dravid (35) and Venkatsai Laxman (33).

Danica was the first female to hold a lead in the Indianapolis 500 three years ago and has kept herself in the new since then. She is backed by sponsors like Motorola, XM Satellite Radio and Go Daddy.

India vs South Africa 2008: 3rd test match

India started off to a good start in the 3rd test match being played at Kanpur, India. India’s spinner Harbhajan Singh grabbed three wickets, while teenaged paceman Ishant Sharma also took three wickets to bowl out South Africa for 265 on the first day of the test match. India’s captin Anil Kumble was ruled out due to injury, and Mahendra Singh Dhoni became the first Indian ‘keeper to lead in tests’. South Africa skipper Graeme Smith scored with 69. The wicket is making it harder for the batsmen to handle the spin and will test the Indian team.

Virender Sehwag seems to be out to prove his critics wrong. After being out of test cricket for over an year, he is back with a bang. Sehwag scored the fastest triple century in Test history. India batting second after South Africa scored 540 for 10 started off with Virender Sehwag and Wasim Jaffer in which Sehwag ended the day with 309 not out. Sehwag also become only the third batsman to pass 300 twice in Test cricket along with Sir Donald Bradman and Brian Lara. Sehwag’s totle also marked the highest score by an Indian on home soil, passing Laxman’s 281 against Australia in Kolkata (Calcutta) in 2001.

Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) has also planned a similar ad campaing for his Kolkata Knight Riders IPL team.

India beat Australia to win a thriller to claim 3 team series. During the competition India stayed close to enter the finals. And then during the finals, the Indian team held together and played some great matches to win the series. India won the match by bowling out Australia for 249, and won by nine runs. Sachin Tendulkar once again proved that he is a great batmens, but fell short of his century. He helped setup India’s nice total of 258.

India beat Sri Lanka to win the match by 2 wickets in the 49th over to keep their hope alive for a berth in the final. Sri Lanka had a rocky start but a 153 run third wicket partnership between Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara helped Sri Lanka post a competitive 238 for 6. Sachin Tendulkar was out for 0 in the 2nd over but India pulled together and came out ahead with a 76 off 70 balls by Yuvraj Singh and 50 not out by Mahendra Singh Dhoni .

All the Indian cricketers, contracted to the Cricket Board have signed into the Indian Premier League (IPL), which is promoted by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). The IPL is set to begin play on April 18 at Bangalore and has scheduled for 59 match event including two semi finals and a grand final.
