Sachin Tendulkar hits 100th century

Sachin Tendulkar scored his 100th century to reach an historic milestone. The century was scored against Bangladesh during the Asia Cup 2012 match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. Sachin had to wait more than a year since his last century to get the 100th. He hit his first in 1990, against England. Sachin ended with 114 runs that included 12 fours and 1 six. India ended up lossing the match with 4 balls remaining.

India vs Australia will be playing the 2nd Quarter Final match at the Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera, Ahmedabad on March 23, 2011. This will be the 1st time the two teams will meet during Wold Cup 2011. Australia captain Ricky Ponting has already won the World Cup three times and the last two times he won as the captain, while the Indian teams last World Cup win was back in 1983. The eyes will be on Sachin Tendulkar , who has 99 international hundreds (51 in Tests and 48 in one-day internationals), and team Australia will hope it does not come tomorrow.

Padma Vibhushan Awarded

Sachin Tendulkar (cricket) and Viswanathan Anand (Indian chess grandmaster) will be awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second highest civilian award.
Padma Bhushan will be awarded to Baichung Bhutia (ace footballer), Bula Chowdhury (swimmer), Meghnad Desai (British economist), Sunita Williams (NASA astronaut), and Dominique Lapierre (French author).
Padma Shri will be awarded to NDTV’s Managing Editor, Barkha Dutt, NDTV’s Vinod Dua, CNN-IBN Editor-in-chief, Rajdeep Sardesai (Indian political commentator and News Presenter), Madhuri Dixit (Indian Film Actress), Tom Alter and Manoj Night Shyamalan (writer-director).
