Ferrari to make India debut

Italian super sports car Ferrari will be launched in India in the coming months. The Ferrari car will be available at the price of 2.27 crore to 3.37 crore. Ferrari, part of Italy’s largest car company Fiat Auto, has made a deal with India’s Shreyans group to import and sell these cars by spring this year (2011). The first showroom will start in Delhi in the first half of this year and then followed by Mumbai in the second half of this year. Ferrari will compete with the likes of super sports cars like Lamborghini which is part of the Volkswagen Group.

Nano’s New Home Is Gujarat’s Sanand

Tata Motors announced that the new home of the Nano will be Sanand in Gujarat. Many local governments were interested in hosting the plant, but after reviewing the offer from the Gujarat Government it was decided that it offered the the best option for the project. The plant will require about 1100 acres and will produce 250,000 cars per annum and will be expanded up to 500,000 cars per annum. Until the Sanand plant’s completion, Tata Motors will have to look at existing facilities at Pune and Pantnagar to manufacture the Nano, and plans to launch the car in the last quarter of this financial year.

Honda’s FCX Clarity To California

06/17/2008:
On Monday, Honda’s new zero emission, hydrogen fuel cell car rolled off a Japanese production line on it’s way to Southern California, USA. The FCX Clarity , runs on hydrogen and electricity, and emits only water. Honda plans to produce few dozen units this year and about 200 units within three years. The car will be available for lease only at about $600 a month which will include maintenance and collision coverage. The car will be sent to some of Hollywood stars like Jamie Lee Curtis and filmmaker husband Christopher Guest, actress Laura Harris, film producer Ron Yerxa, businessmen Jon Spallino and Jim Salomon. The FCX Clarity has a range of about 270 miles per tank with hydrogen consumption equivalent to 74 miles per gallon.

Tata and Ford Deal Land Rover and Jaguar

03/25/2008:
Tata and Ford are all set to ink the deal on the future of Land Rover and Jaguar. The first part of the agreement would be the signing of the memorandum of understanding, or MoU, which is expected to be done in London Tuesday and then followed by an official announcement on Wednesday. The acquistion will probably be low key and is expected to fetch USD 2-3 billion for Ford. This will mark a new future for Tata, who recently announced the people’s car , the Tata Nano. Tata’s Ratan Tata will be at the signing.
